With LECHUZA self-watering planters you plant directly in the planter with the sub-irrigation set. The advantage is that unsightly trays underneath the pot are unnecessary, since LECHUZA sub-irrigation enables water to circulate just like in nature. As a result, the plant’s roots will not rot in standing water, and you will never again add too much or not enough water or nutrients.

LECHUZA planters with sub-irrigation mimic nature and can even be used outdoors, since excess rainwater easily drains, but leaves behind a full reservoir to keep your plants well watered.

A – Supply shaft with water level indicator B – Regular potting soil (or LECHUZA-PON plant substrate) C – LECHUZA-PON as drainage layer D – Separator* The LECHUZA water reservoir holds up to 26.5 litres, enough to water your plants for 2-12 weeks, depending on planter size, plant type and location. We have been using Lechuza™ planters successfully in our designs and supplying customers from our shop for a number of years now with great success. The new range of Lechuza planters for 2008 is now available. OFFICE PLANTERS - WATERING MADE EASY It's this simple: 1. Insert LECHUZA sub-irrigation set (separator, supply shaft and water level indicator) into the planter and place the included LECHUZA-PON drainage material onto the separator (about 1 inch deep). 2. Add potting soil to the planter, insert plant with roots, and fill the planter with soil. Compact soil well. 3. For the next three months, continue to water the plants from above through the soil. After that, the plant will supply itself from the reservoir. After three months, your plant's roots will have grown far enough into the moist area that they will be able to obtain water from the reservoir without your assistance. Refill the water reservoir only after the water level indicator is at "Min".
