Description

Instant Hedge Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) in a Hedge Bag

100cm long x 110-130cm high x 40cm deep

Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) instant hedging is also known as Evergreen Oak and Holly Oak.  This variety produces evergreen, grey-green leaves that change into a darker green with age, making them perfect for instant natural privacy screening. Their leaf shape and colour can vary slightly from plant to plant: the younger plants will produce more silvery leaves and the older ones will have greener leaves.  They are a fast growing species that will form a dense hedge very quickly if the conditions are right.

Frequent pruning will result in a denser foliage. The new growth is produced from May-June and is covered with a tawny-beige or white indumentum (small hairs) which soon wears off.  If left to grow un-trimmed it will form a tree as majestic as the Common Oak to which it is related.

Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) instant hedging is suitable for almost all areas and soil types apart from in the coldest inland areas and grows well in shaded areas.  If grown in the shade the leaves will be more green than grey-green.  It grows best in well-drained soil and is perfect for coastal areas.
