Description

Instant Hedge:  Viburnum tinus in Hedge Bag

Viburnum tinus (Laurustinus) makes for a stunning evergreen instant hedge.

This variety will produce a dense foliage with its medium sized dark green, oval,  glossy leaves. From late Autumn to early spring, it will produces flattened clusters of flowers which are white in colour with a faint hint of pink to the buds.

If left unpruned, you can enjoy their fruits which starts of as metallic blue and change to black over time. However, if you plan on regular pruning less flowers and fruits will grow. For best results, we recommend pruning this variety just as the flowers are fading but before the new growth comes on.

Viburnum tinus instant hedging is suitable for all but the coldest parts of the United Kingdom and is able to grow in both shade and exposed coastal locations. While it can be shaped, it will be better if left unpruned as a more informal shape will look better if allowed to be slightly more natural in its growth. If it is allowed to flower and then trimmed you will not get the fruit but you will get a better looking hedge. If allowed to grow naturally it will make a medium to large shrub.

Improve Biodiversity and Attractive Bees and Birds to your outdoor space

Its clusters of flowers will provide a wealth of nectar and pollen for a wide range of bees and other pollinators. They will also produce a dense foliage which will provide a welcoming home for nesting birds.

In this way,  a Viburnum tinus (Laurustinus) hedge, with all its wildlife-boosting elements, can contribute to increasing biodiversity in your outdoor space.
