Hedera helix Woerner.

This is our most popular instant living screen. It forms a classic dark green ivy with large shiny leaves and prominent white veins. It is particularly hardy. This variety of Ivy is one of the most frost resistant and thrives in partial or full shade, although it will tolerate full sun. It can be easily kept in check with a trim once a year. It does not form damaging clinging stemsHarmful if eaten / may cause skin allergy

Hedera helix Goldchild

Goldchild is an evergreen Ivy that produces light green golden yellow, with three to five lobes. The older leaves have grey-green edge with a lighter  yellow. This delightful Hedera  grows in all light conditions, but prefers a sheltered aspect. Protected from cold, drying winds it grows well in fertile, moist, well-drained, preferably alkaline soil.

Harmful if eaten / may cause skin allergy

Green ripple produce striking vivid green leaves with contrast pale green veins adorn this evergreen climber. evergreen climber is self supporting, using aerial roots to cling to walls and fences without the need for further support.This superb evergreen Ivy can be forms a very attractive screen full sun or partial shade. Prefers humus-rich soil, preferably alkaline, moist, well-drained. Flowering period: October and November. Hardiness: fully hardy.Harmful if eaten / may cause skin allergy

Hedera helix White ripple

Hedera helix ‘White Ripple’ is a fast-growing ivy, bearing pale green leaves with a pretty white margin. It’s ideal for brightening up a shady corner. Suitable for full sun or partial shade. Prefers moist but well-drained soil. 'White Ripple' is known for attracting bees, beneficial insects, birds, butterflies​/​moths and other pollinators. It is a caterpillar food plant, has nectar/pollen rich flowers, provides shelter and habitat, has seeds for birds and makes a good wildlife hedge. Harmful if eaten / may cause skin allergy

Hedera helix Hibernica

Helix hibernica is a vigorous large evergreen Ivy climber with broad, 5-lobed dark green leaves to 12cm in width with defined lighter veining and a paler underside when mature. . Small greenish flowers in umbels are followed by black berries.The leaves of flowering shoots are, however, oval with entire margins. Flowering occurs in Sept/October. The fruits are blue-black berries.

Hedera helix 'Hibernica', alternatively known as Atlantic or Irish Ivy is Salt tolerant, this particular variety is ideal for coastal areas.

Euonymus fortuneii
Salt tolerant, very attractive foliage alternative

Euonymus Dart's Blanket is an evergreen, hedging salt tolerant species. Also known as 'Wintercreeper, Dart's Blanket' produces a dense coverage with attractive oval in spring and summer to its switch to warm red in autumn. This species will tolerate most soil types if well drained and enjoys full sun to partial shade. It is the ideal landscape screen choice for its evergreen, slow-growing, low maintenance, and stand-out its foliage colour feature..

Euonymus Dart's Blankets Salt Tolerance and suitability for even the harshest of coastal areas and roadside conditions over winter, makes it even more appeaing as a screening species

Trachelospermum jasminoides

This delightful evergreen climber, which has glossy, green leaves, dense habit and produces wonderfully jasmine scented small, white, flowers that are produced in abundant clusters throughout summer, reknowned for its an exceptual fragrance. With a spreading climbing manner it makes a particularly attractive Living screen. Sometimes known as Star Jasmine, it has a delicate appearance. However it is very hardy, and thrives in full sun.

Trachelosperm7um will thrive in most soils, ideally moist, well drained, but will even tolerate some drought. It benefits from a full-sun, fairly sheltered location for maximum flowering, although it will also grow and flower in partial shade.

Pyracantha Dart's Red

Pyracantha is a dense, spiny evergreen shrub. It is a tough, hardy plant which grows quite quickly, producing scented cream / white flowers in late spring with striking red, orange or yellow berries, depending on the variety. It prefers a sunny spot, and should be pruned after flowering to expose the berry forming flowers to sunshine. It is very easy to grow in most soils in sun or partial shade but is not suitable for coastal gardens, very deep shade, or very exposed windy sites.

The extremely spiny stems makes it a perfect protected nesting site for small birds as well as the ultimate natural intruder deterrant.

Carpinus betulus

Carpinus betulus is a semi-evergreen native tree species, is ideal for hedging and pleaching. In autumn the leaves turn golden yellow and it will hold some leaf during winter. Carpinus betulus hedging tolerates poor soil conditions and exposed sites better than Beech. With green catkins in late spring through to autumn, turning to fruit making it ideal for wildlife.
Hornbeam's  appearance in winter is similar to Beech with copper-coloured leaves, but loses more leaves. Hornbeam's leaves consist of less vibrant brown-grey compared to the autumnal orange-brown tones of Beech.

Supporting the living screens in our larch trough planters

If the screens are not directly against a wall or fence, we can supply larch posts that fit into the planter. some clients want the living screens to be directly against a wall or fence to cover unattractive features, in which case, for support the screens can be fixed to the wall or fence. If they are to be free-standing, the screens are best supported by larch posts, supplied by us, which slide into inner sleeves that are part of the larch trough planters.
